Stephen John Fry was born in Hampstead, London, on 24 August 1957, the son of Marianne Eve Fry and physicist/inventor Alan John Fry.
At the age of 18, Stephen spent three months on remand in Pucklechurch Prison for stealing a credit card of a close family friend.
Stephen is the reader for the British versions of all of J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter series of audio books.
Oxford English Dictionary has cited a Fry article as the earliest recorded use of the word "luvvie" (a person who is involved in the acting profession or the theatre, esp one with a tendency to affectation).
